میں پھول چنتی رہی اور مجھے خبر نہ ہوئی
وہ شخص آکے میرے شہر سے چلا بھی گیا

Main phool chunti rahi aur mujhe khabar na hui
Woh shakhs aa ke mere shehar se chala bhi gaya

کو بہ کو پھیل گئی بات شناسائی کی
اس نے خوشبو کی طرح میری پذیرائی کی

Ko ba ko phail gayi baat shanasaai ki
Us ne khushboo ki tarah meri pazirai ki

وہ جب آئے گا تو اس کی رفاقت کے لیے
موسم گل میرے آنگن میں ٹھہر جائے گا

Woh jab aaye ga to us ki rafaqat ke liye
Mausam‑e‑gul mere aangan mein thehar jaye ga

تلاش کر میری کمی کو اپنے دل میں

مر بھی جاؤں تو کہاں لوگ بھلا ہی دیں گے
لفظ میرے مرے ہونے کی گواہی دیں گے

Mar bhi jaoon to kahan log bhula hi denge
Lafz mere mere hone ki gawahi denge

فصل بر وقت نہ کٹتی جو سروں کی پروین
آسمانوں نے زمینوں کو نگل جاتا تھا

Fasal bar‑waqt na kat’ti jo sar’on ki Parveen
Aasmanon ne zameenon ko nigal jana tha

تجھ کو کیا علم، تجھے ہارنے والے کچھ لوگ
کس قد رسخت ندامت سے تجھے دیکھتے ہیں

Dekha to hont siye the, aankh mein nami thi

کو بہ کو پھیل گئی بات شناسائی کی

Ko ba ko phail gayi baat shanasaai ki
Us ne khushboo ki tarah meri pazirai ki

بس یہ ہوا کہ اس نے تکلف میں بات کی
اور ہم نے روٹھ جانے کا بہانہ چھوڑ دیا

Bas ye hua ke us ne takalluf mein baat ki
Aur hum ne rooth jaane ka bahaana chhod diya

وہ کہیں بھی گیا، لوٹا تو مرے پاس آیا
بس یہی بات ہے اچھی مرے ہرجائی کی

Woh kahin bhi gaya, louta to mere paas aaya
Bas yehi baat hai achhi mere harjaai ki

اک لمحہ بھی نہیں ٹھہرا ہے کوئی میرے لیے
وقت کے پاؤں میں جیسے کوئی زنجیر نہ تھی

مرے چہرے پہ بھی دیکھا ہے وہی رنگِ ملال
جو کبھی آئینۂ دل پہ نمایاں تھا بہت

Mere chehre pe bhi dekha hai wohi rang-e-malala
Jo kabhi aaina-e-dil pe numaya tha bohot

کچھ تو تنہائی کی راتوں میں سہارا ہوتا
وہ جو کہتا تھا کبھی، یاد تمہیں رکھتا ہوں

Kuch to tanhai ki raato mein sahara hota
Woh jo kehta tha kabhi, yaad tumhein rakhta hoon

ہم کو معلوم تھا انجامِ محبت پھر بھی
دل کو خوش فہمیوں میں مبتلا رکھا ہم نے

Hum ko maloom tha anjaam-e-mohabbat phir bhi
Dil ko khush fehmiyon mein mubtala rakha hum ne
